5. 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo
In 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo the pot is split between the best high hand and the best low hand – provided there is a qualifying low hand. To qualify as a low hand, no card in the combined five card hand can be over 8 or be a pair. Ace can be used in both the low and high hand. If more than one low hand qualifies, the hand with the lowest high card wins. This means that the hand 7-5-4-2-A beats 8-4-3-2-A. If the high cards are the same, the next highest card is compared. It is possible for the same player to win both the high and the low hands. The low hand can be a flush or a straight. The best possible low hand is 5-4-3-2-A. If there are no qualifying low hands, the high hand wins the whole pot.
